HISTORY
OUR LEGACY
The parent company of Main Attractions, Sconda Canvas Products, was founded in 1952 by Frank Sconda. After World War II, Mr. Sconda trained under the G.I. Bill in Canvas Fabrication. The firm began as a custom canvas and tarp manufacturer with two employees. In 1972, Chattin Awning Company (CAT) was acquired, adding awnings, canopies, and tents to the product line, and the company grew to eight employees.
Five years later, Sports Attractions was formed to rent tents and related equipment to professional sports organizations. The company toured with the PGA, LPGA, Women’s Professional Tennis, and major auto racing circuits. During this period, Sports Attractions, previously known as CAT, was contracted to provide tenting for prestigious events such as the PGA Championship, LPGA tournaments, the U.S. Open, the PGA Senior Open, the Virginia Slims Championship, and multiple Grand Prix races. The brand became synonymous with high-quality VIP pavilions, creative scoreboards, and innovative temporary flooring solutions.
Around 1979, Main Attractions was established to serve the Tri-State special event market, leveraging decades of touring experience, extensive equipment resources, and a proven ability to deliver excellence. The company quickly became a leader in special-event contracting throughout the region.
Today, Main Attractions employs 30 full-time team members and is managed by Rocky Sconda and Dean DiAlfonso, both of whom bring over 40 years of industry experience. Their commitment to the highest professional standards and quality craftsmanship continues the tradition that has guided the company’s growth for more than seven decades. Main Attractions remains a leading brand in special event construction.
