History of Main Attractions
The parent company of Main Attractions, Sconda Canvas products was founded in 1952 by Frank Sconda. After World War II, Mr. Sconda trained under the G.I. Bill in Canvas Fabrication. The firm was a custom canvas and tarp manufacturer with two employees. In 1972, Chattin Awning Company was purchased. Awnings, Canopies and tents were added to the product line. The company grew to eight employees. Five years later Sports Attractions was established to rent tents and related equipment to professional sports. The Company toured with the PGA, LPGA, Women’s Professional Tennis and the Auto Racing Tours. During this time Sports Attractions was contracted to provide tenting to many prestigious sports events. These included PGA Championship, LPGA, U.S. Open, PGA Senior Open, Virginia Slims Championship and Grand Prix Races. Sports Attractions was synonymous with quality VIP pavilions, creative scoreboards and challenging temporary flooring solutions.
In 1985, Main Attractions was formed to service the tri-state special event market. We entered this market having the vast experience gained in years of servicing our touring events. With the depth of equipment and proven ability to deliver quality products Main Attractions quickly became the tri- state leaders in special event contracting. Today the Company has over forty-five full time employees and is managed by Rocky Sconda. Rocky has over forty years of experience in the industry. He is committed to the same professional standards and quality that was the foundation of the company’s growth. Main Attractions has become the leading brand in special events construction.
